I’m Michael (also known as MT) and I’ve been  rock climbing, ice climbing, scrambling, walking and downright enjoying the Scottish mountains for over 25 years.

My approach is to go overnight where ever possible and I always camp high. Some of the best views of the hills are at sunset and sunrise and most hill-goers miss them completely!

I’m a gear head, so you’ll see lots of gear reviews and appraisals here. I like to do real life testing, so you’ll see some technical details about gear when it arrives then I will review later on how it performed in the mountains. I like to test long term, because reliability and longevity are big issues when you’re contemplating a purchase. I prefer lightweight gear if I can get it, because my knees aren’t what they used to be but I don’t go for weight over comfort. I’m not ultralight, I’m ultra-enjoyment.

I’m also a keen photographer and if you’re interested I use a Nikon D750 and a Canon EOS M as my main cameras.

If you like what I do or just want to chat about mountains or gear, feel free to get in touch. I’m on most of the popular networks, or just click on ‘ask a question’ up there on the menu bar. See you on the hill!
