Mad world

Meet Wonder Woman. Also know as Paul or Paulo. Yes it’s a blurry photo, but the reason for that is that I was in a state of shock when I snapped it so wasn’t really paying attention. It’s not every day you top out to a sight like this.

A brief conversation revealed that rather than just being a big fan of Lynda Carter, Paul has a good reason to be gadding about dressed like this.

Paul’s up there for the Mondo Loco foundation, who are doing some wonderful work in Africa. He’s dressed as the iconic lady to bring attention to the need to empower women in Africa. A lot of young women are tied up fetching and carrying water so don’t have access to education. Sort out the water issue and get them into school and that’s a big step towards equality and empowerment.

His plan is to get his photo taken at the top of all the munros in this outfit. Mild lunacy for a good cause? Count me in. Anyone daft enough to do this deserves our support, don’t you think? He’s also not this blurry in real life too.

Find out more at Paul’s blog, on Facebook, or on Twitter.

He’s got me thinking, I might take my Superman costume up with me next time.

  1. Hi Michael, love the blog mate…

Our first project at The Mondo Loco FOundation is to install an irrigation system at a sports academy in Lilongwe, Malawi. It will provide water for the sports fields and the development of a community permaculture area. My local football club, Bonnyrigg Rose Boys Club have agreed to send all the kits they replace out to the kids of this area so they will all have the same uniform to wear when the project is finished! There’s a lot more to our foundation, we sponsor a young guy called Joseph through his education in Malawi, he now has a diploma in IT and is studying for his advanced at the moment.

Next expedition is Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th. Will do Ben Vane, Bein Ime and Ben Carnain (?) on the Saturday then Ben Lomond on the Sunday, another four…tick!

We’re having a party this weekend, downstairs at The Newsroom, Edinburgh. DJ Marcelo Demarco flying in from Ibiza on his way home to Uruguay just to do his bit for the cause…live bongo drums…it is, after all, a Mondo Loco party!

Sorry for the shameless self plugging.

    Paulo x

  2. Cheers Paulo, shameless plugs are fine here if they’re for a good cause! Keep up the good work fella, might catch up with you in the Arrochar alps…
